Prayer needed

Post by Broakin »

I asking for everyone to pray for my friend Heather B. Last saturday she was hit on a ATV by a dune buggy.

Darl (Heather's father) was able to speak with the driver of the sand rail. It is still quite odd how they hit, because it was fairly wide open, but neither driver saw each other. Daniel (the friend) was behind Heather on his own quad, but was helpless as he saw the impact coming. The sand rail was traveling at 50mph. Heather and the sand rail impacted each other on Heather's right side. Heather went forward, and hit the front of the sand rail, helmet flew off. She went up and over the top of the sand rail, hit the cross bar, breaking off the flood lights on the top, then went 15 in the air, and landed behind the vehicle. The impact was so great that the front of the sand rail was noticeably distorted.

She wasnt breathing, but had a pulse. So Daniel left to get find a cell phone to call 911. The sand rail guys stayed with her, and apparently someone from their party arrived and was a paramedic. He successfully inserted a tube to allow air flow, but still no breathing on her own. At camp, Daniel called 911, but Darl and Heather's brother D were out riding somewhere. So Daniel returned to Heather.

Life flight landed within minutes (what a miracle). Immediately hooked her up to a respirator. Daniel went back to camp, and found Darl and D. And said, "that is Heather in that helicopter that you just saw."

Heather is suffering from 2 collapsed lungs, that are now both artificially inflated with tubes. Broken scapula and clavicle on the right side, internal bleeding there has been stopped. Broken vertebrae #1, which is not as potentially severe as other vertebrae can be. Broken pelvis. No broken legs or arms. And miraculously, no major external damage. She has severe bruising, but no major cuts or lacerations. But before most of this can be addressed, the swelling in the brain must be controlled and reduced.

The swelling is reduced and she is improving.

Consider it done, my friend.

It sounds like she's already got someone watching over her, to come out of that alive!
