T2 PvP Armor Set -- Tracker

Post by Kestrel_Trebor »

Here's a guide to getting the "Tracker Set." Decent T2 armor that will probably last through your mid-20's. If you're not getting keep gold loot bags (which are less common in T2/T3, IMO) then this stuff is going to be the best set gear you'll get I think, in that level range.

There's also a T3 set that I haven't looked at yet, but I'll try to post info. when I research it.

Cut/pasted the below from http://www.massively.com/photos/massive ... e/1074306/

Tonight I'm going to pick up the quests. I've completed one, but I'll re-do that with others who need it. Everyone in this level range should try to grab these and get to killing ;) !!!

The Tracker's Set

When you reach Tier 2 (level 12 to level 21), you will probably be looking for some nice new gear to help improve your slaying out in the RvR lakes and scenarios. You can work on your Renown Rank and purchase RvR gear, or grind out PQs for Influence rewards, but there is another option that combines PvE and RvR and ends with the Tracker Set gear.

Sets in WAR tend to have a lot of different stats without investing too heavily in any one, but there are bonuses for each additional piece you own that increase their value. The Tracker Set gets added to the Armory in your Tome of Knowledge when you receive it, and you even get a title for completing the whole set. If this sounds like a pretty sweet deal, then flip over to the next page and we'll run through the process of getting the set.

We'll be looking at things from the Order point of view, but giving information for both sides. The only catch is that there seems to be an issue with one of the quests being disabled on the Destruction side, making the set impossible to complete. When the quest is fixed, we will update our information here too.

UPDATE: Read on Destruction! The issue has been resolved, and our guide fully updated.

80 Players?!

By the mid-teens, you will be high enough to pick up all of the initial quests to get your Tracker set. It is advisable to take them on as soon as possible, as they all involve killing certain classes in RvR, and who knows when you might get into a fight that could count towards your quest! We'll start by looking at "Eye for an Eye". This quest is given by Alaric Grimstone, at the location shown on the map in Marshes of Madness. He asks you to kill 80 players of any class, which sounds like a lot, but if you are queuing up for scenarios you'll finish it pretty quickly.

This is also the quest that unfortunately has no equivalent on the Destruction side at the time of writing. When you have killed 80 players, return to Alaric for the second and final step in this quest.

UPDATE: Destruction players can now receive a quest to kill 20 Witch Hunters, from Erikwuf Wrathbound in Ostland!

Gorglut Stuntysplitter

To finish "Eye for an Eye", you will need to fight Gorglut Stuntysplitter. He's a level 13 Orc Hero, not intended to be soloed, but if you're higher up in the tier it may be possible. In normal circumstances, bring a few friends with you and there shouldn't be a problem with Gorglut, although like most heroes, he has a huge amount of hitpoints. The reward for this quest is the Tracker gloves. Next!

UPDATE: The Destruction hero mob is a level 15 in Troll Country called Wilhelm von Kleinbach.

Tracker chestpiece

Next up, we'll have a look at the quests to get the Tracker chestpiece. On the Order side, the quest is called "Into the Flames" and is obtained from Toridrel Goldbeam in Ellyrion, who asks you to wipe out 20 Witch Elves. The Destruction version is called "Bladed Whispers" and is from Tarond Frostrage, also in Ellyrion. For this one, you'll need to kill 20 Swordmasters. When you've completed the player-killing portion of the quest, return to the quest-giver.

Narith Flamescar

For Order players, the next step of the quest is to kill a level 17 Hero by the name of Narith Flamescar. Narith is a Dark Elf Blackguard, which is one of the removed classes -- you'll notice a lot of the classes still around as NPCs. Destruction players also must face a level 17 Hero called Drielis Windform. After your group has killed the hero, you can hand in the quest to receive your Tracker chestpiece.

The third and final setpiece

To finish off the 3 piece set, Order players can visit Stephan Longstein in Ostland to pick up "Facing Death", which tasks them with killing 20 Marauders. The Destruction version is "'Ead 'Unta", given by Drekka Goblobba in the Marshes of Madness. Drekka wants you to get rid of 20 Ironbreakers. As with the other quests, there is a second step to complete when you've handed in the first part.

Hasfred Bloodclaw

The target mob for the second step of "Facing Death" is Hasfred Bloodclaw. He is a level 15 Hero, found in a swampy area of Ostland. He is sitting down at his campfire at times, and might be a bit hidden behind a few bushes, so keep your eyes peeled. Once again, if you've got a few friends with you he shouldn't be too hard.

Over on the Destruction side, you'll be sent to kill Surveyor Stonebreak, a level 13 Dwarf hero in the Marshes of Madness. Handing in this quest will grant you the Tracker boots. When you have all three of the setpieces, you will complete the set in your ToK Armory, and unlock the title "The Tracker". It is unfortunate that this is not possible on the Destruction side at the moment, but when it's fixed up, we'll make sure to let you know! A similar set exists for Tier 3, so keep reading the site for a guide on obtaining it in the near future.

UPDATE: As seen on the first few pages of this guide, Destruction can now complete their set!
